Ice Ice Outpost

So, this story goes back to winter of 2017. As I mentioned before I worked at Stop & Shop overnight for a while. Well, there was supposed to be snowstorm early that morning as we were leaving. Of course, I thought to myself “ah it won’t be so bad! I’ll be fine”. Mind you, the car I was driving at the time was a 1990 Lexus LS 400 with balding tires. Anyway, I delayed a bit to let the brunt of the storm run its course. Once I got outside, however, it ended it being more than I had expected. Walking to my car I felt like I needed skis instead of the worn sneakers I had on. After I got to my car and cleaned it off, I was considering asking my dad for a ride home, but I thought “nah I got this”. Quick explainer here, to get home requires going through a bit of a valley. The store was on one end of a hill and my house was on another raised area. I was trying to Bill Nye this thing. Well, if I just go down the hill fast enough, I can use that momentum to push me up the hill. No biggie, right? Well once I get out on the road it’s more slippery than I expected so I couldn’t get up to the speed I wanted without slipping a bunch. I felt like I was competing in Mario Kart on ice ice outpost. No matter I was DETERMINED to make this plan work. I was already on the road, and I wanted to go home. I get to the bottom of the hill with some momentum and floor it only to get halfway up the hill and start slipping back down tires spinning. I try again. No bueno. Eventually an officer just tells me to go back down and go another way. Unfortunately, I get down to the bottom and it’s too slippery to even turn. I eventually was able to pull to the side of the road next to a bank. The maintenance workers there tried to carve out a path, but it was to no avail. As l’m sitting there stuck with, I contemplate waiting it out but then I’m like “I really would like to go home.” So eventually I cave and call my dad and he’s like “Are you crazy?? You tried to drive THAT car in THIS weather??” He asked how close I was, and I say not too far so he says hang tight. He shows up and he’s trying to assess how SOL I am. Eventually with the help of the maintenance guys and a near endless k-turn we got the car back on the road. From there my dad literally got behind my car with his truck and went bumper to bumper like a locomotive all the way home.
