First Days

So, I know this should really be about one moment but over the past year I have experienced so many firsts. I would say it been one of the most transformative years so how could I pick just one?? This is in no particular order by the way. I was in my first, and I assure you, only situationship I’ll ever be in. That leads seamlessly into my first road trip ever. I won’t beat a dead horse, but it was a borderline disaster. There were a few awesome first dates too. I had my first ever drunk karaoke date. It’s all fun and games til’ you’re puking out of the side of your car. Believe me it’s a real mood killer. There was also bar hopping in Philly last February and the very recent Taylor Swift night as well. I went to my first concert ever last May. It was Rex Orange County at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens. With the situationship in fact. That experience sums me up in a nutshell. Running terribly late, stuck in traffic, and a very angry woman in the passenger seat. We were circling around the stadium for what felt like hours. We could even hear the cheers of the audience from the outside. Luckily (and I do mean luck) I found a spot in front of the hydrant. The concert went well once we got inside, and we even got dinner afterward. The icing on the cake was not getting a parking ticket for that hydrant I parked in front of. Among the multiple firsts was my first time leading a lecture for the Korean class I was TA-ing for. Helpful advice for my first time were statements like “Call on the students who you know will give you the right answer”. Not only is that handy for college aged students but for tiny three-year olds as well. Yes, another first is working with small children. Something I would’ve never thought possible in the past but here I am teaching the future rat exterminators of America how to cut in a straight line without losing a fingertip. So thanks to Caitlin for including me in her MFA film I had a blast but that actually was not my first time being on camera. The girl who I always mention who I went on the road trip with asked me to be the lead in a short film she was making. This was only a mere couple months after the road trip but also her new guy was there. Not that I was bitter or anything! Now to the part I was saving til the end. So, my first storyslam ever was actually last March at a university sponsored event where I met said girl from said roadtrip who was also my first acting credit. I believe this is what writers call exposition right? Or as baker would call layering. Anyway, I did that story about my very first date ever during my senior year of high school. I got second place, but I swear I should’ve gotten first place. That led me in a way here. I got to meet Marissa in Washington Township which took me to Highbridge and Scouts. I cannot believe it’s been a year since I got to meet all the great people in this community and that you still even find my wacky stories entertaining. Thank you all very much and I am looking forward to another fantastic year!
