The Details Of A Date

So as I’ve mentioned many times, I go on dates. Now you may think it’s as simple as asking for the date and showing up (preferably) on time. Oh no no no. There are a lot of logistical factors to work out. First of which is: why the hell do they wanna go on a date with me in the first place??. All jokes aside the first thing I gotta figure out is do I wanna eat in front of this person or would I prefer to do an activity? If we’re going to a restaurant I need to be on my verbal A-game, which as you all have seen by now isn’t a strong suit of mine. If I choose to do an activity there’s more of an opportunity for spontaneity. With that, there’s less opportunity to actually get to know someone. Next, I have to figure out what I wanna wear. Which is no easy feat. A Renaissance man like me has to decide between wool pants or corduroy pants. Stripes or checker. Vans or... well just vans I love my Vans. The next order of business is how I’m gonna get there. There’s some math involved in all this as well. This one is definitely not my strong suit believe me. If I’m going into Manhattan I for sure park in Hoboken and take the PATH to and from. $15 bucks parking in Hoboken and 2.75 on the PATH each way. A lot cheaper than the $16 toll and the $50 parking garage(at least) in the city. Also, the sanity I save by not driving around knuckleheads and avoiding Citi bikes is priceless. Now if I’m going into Brooklyn or Queens that’s a different story. Parking in those areas is pretty easy to find and only $5 max for metered parking and free if it’s after 7 pm. If I take the toll-free bridges across the boroughs then it’s a lot more efficient to just drive in. Told you there’d be a lot of numbers. On a side note a friend of mine mentioned that she only saves guys' numbers as the city they live in. Well if that’s the case then I should have a whole lot of Queens and Brooklyn in my phone. I rarely get dates with anyone who lives in Jersey go figure. And they say New Yorkers hate Jersey. So get to the location go through the date and it doesn’t go horribly which is all you can ask for. At the end of the night, you hug, kiss, or... yada yada yada, and then you may or may not hear from them again. Honestly, first dates are irrelevant in the sense it’s such a small sample size and so many factors affect how it goes. Also, it’s not nearly enough time to know what you need to about a person. And so with that, I just try to have as much fun as I can since that’s the only thing I can control. Sure it feels like an exercise in futility at times but I’ve also had some fun times and conversations along the way and met some pretty interesting people so I’d say it evens out.
